Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair Couldn't Have Followed Sami Zayn & KO at WrestleMania

There have been many headaches all over the internet about this very topic and I was hoping it would it stay away. Sadly, it is suddenly filling my feeds all over again. Another sad part is it is all of the same exact arguments that everyone was making weeks ago and they’re all still so bad and quite clearly missing the mark.
The biggest argument that I have seen is people losing their minds saying that she won the Royal Rumble and was guaranteed the Main Event position at WrestleMania. There have been many people that have won the Royal Rumble, to include very recently, that didn’t get the Main Event spot and the last match at WrestleMania. Some of those names include The Undertaker in 2008, Rey Mysterio finishing his Ultimate Underdog story in 2006, Asuka and her undefeated streak against Charlotte Flair, Shinsuke Nakamura in the same year against AJ Styles, John Cena who went o top lose to Randy Orton and Triple H, Sheamus, Seth Rollins, and several others are on that list. It is not unprecedented that the winner does not get the Main Event spot on the card. If the Undertaker didn’t get it or Rey Mysterio while ending his story, then there is no reason for anyone’s heads to be exploding as much as they have been.
The simple fact is that it wasn’t the biggest story that was happening on Night 1 of WrestleMania 39. It didn’t have the largest fan investment of the night either. The build for their match wasn’t anywhere near the greatest. The fact that they had Dominik Mysterio involved in it at all pretty much says it all for me because Rhea is more than capable of handling encounters with Charlotte Flair all on her own. There are also a few here and there that I saw trying to make the worst argument I have seen with the argument of them not getting the Main Event spot because they’re women. I’m just leaving that there and not dignifying it with a response because it isn’t worth any of our time.
The simple fact of the matter is quite simple. It has nothing to do with sexism or anyone being held down. It is the simple fact that the hottest person in the company for months was and still is Sami Zayn. Through his work trying to get into The Bloodline, to his work in The Bloodline, and everything he did after that chair shot to the back of Roman Reigns. Having Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley go out there after Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens finally defeated The Usos and got the Unified Tag Titles off of them would have been a disservice to the both of them. They wouldn’t have been able to top or match what happened during what was the Main Event of Night 1. They got the perfect spot on the night and their match delivered. As we thought and knew they were going to but it didn’t have the fan investment going in to earn the Main Event and I’m personally glad that they didn’t get it.
Hate me if you want but you know I’m right at least this time.
